Greetings Alumni Ruggers and Friends of the Program!

What a year. Despite obvious challenges to business as usual, both the men’s and women’s teams were able to pull off successful fall and spring seasons.

Both teams practiced and scrimmaged regularly — no small feat when adhering to the ever-moving goalposts of New York State and federal health guidelines. Not much could stop our seniors from bashing into each other a few more times before graduating.

The highlight of the men’s season was hosting conference newbies Nazareth College, which ended in a commanding victory for alma mater. For the women’s side, it was a scrimmage in which the senior players conquered their teammates, despite being short four players. And, of course, everyone enjoyed the end-of-year “digital banquet,” as well as an in-person graduation get-together at Good Nature Brewing for seniors and their parents.

It’s been genuinely inspiring to see the resilience and sense of community fostered among our athletes as they took on unprecedented obstacles. Their creativity, joy, and determination are hallmarks of a successful rugby program that we want to build upon in the future. To help keep this attitude thriving for another generation, we ask you to consider:

  • Getting involved – volunteer, mentor, provide internships, plan events
Our Winter Social was an amazing event. We were thrilled to offer our community a program featuring Bill Freeborn ’76 interviewing World Rugby Hall-of-Famer and “King of Sevens” Waisale Serevi. Watch the recording.

  • Giving a gift of any amount to either program
As we look forward to future national championship opportunities, your support allows the program to set and achieve these goals. If you are able, we ask that you make a gift in support of the men’s or women’s teams before June 30 (the end of Colgate’s fiscal year). Don’t forget to designate the gift to your preferred team. Your generosity will fund immediate needs, like health and safety precautions, travel, equipment, and a medical trainer, as well as building the future of CRA.

Thank you for all that you do to keep the Colgate rugby tradition alive and thriving.

Wishing everyone the very best,
The Colgate Rugby Alliance
