For parents of current Colgate ruggers, we have implemented a few things to provide a safer and more fulfilling environment for our student athletes! The Fall of 2015 has seen the beginning of our concussion protocol (click here for more details) for all our club members which entails:
– Stronger emphasis on proper tackle and rucking techniques
– ImPACT Testing for all active members
– Gradual Return To Play Protocol (GRTPP) to prevent any pre-mature returns to the field, and
– Certified athletic trainers for all matches
During our pre-season, we also kicked-off our collaboration with the Colgate University Center for Career Services. This collaboration provided the returning players with workshops on how to create a proper resume and the most effective techniques of how to effectively network. The Colgate Rugby Alliance (CRA) continues to work on providing different events to provide mentoring and networking opportunities as well as. The CCS workshops paired with our actively engaged CRA will help provide our student athletes with the necessary skills and experiences to help put the correct foot forward when looking beyond their experiences as a member of the Colgate Rugby Club.
